About me

I am currently a 6th year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at THE Ohio State University, with a Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Demography. I have worked on various projects with faculty advisors and peers that center on immigration, educational attainment, fertility, sibling impacts, and family estrangement. I am a mixed-methods scholar, with a preference for qualitative field work.

My dissertation work is currently recognizing the histories and social mobility pathways of Mexican-origin immigrant families in Central Florida through a multi family member approach. This work will provide insights into how emerging immigrant communities establish a foothold in a rural environment to support upward mobility across and within generations. In particular, she places close attention to the gender dynamics and roles that may support or hinder such processes.

After exploring possibilities of a postdoctoral fellowship in this year's academic job market, I eventually plan to use my experience and research to help tailor services and resources from local nonprofits and community centers to better meet the needs of immigrant populations in rural and low-income areas.

I was recently awarded and named as an American Doctoral Fellowship 2026-27 from the American Association of University Women.
